This course explores healthy dietary choices and the health effects of diet on various conditions. Participants in this course will also learn how to recognize when to direct a client or patient to a dietitian for nutrition counseling, and to identify appropriate resources to educate individuals about healthy nutrition choices.

Following this course, you will be able to:
    • Identify the health effects of poor dietary choices.
    • Recognize when to direct an individual to a dietitian for nutrition counseling.
    • Describe the basic functions of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals.
    • Identify appropriate resources to educate individuals about a healthy diet.
    • Explain how to engage individuals in making healthier food choices.
