Description
ABSTRACT
Did you know
you have a bouncer in your brain standing guard at the entrance to the V.I.P.
event that is your brain? This bouncer—the reticular activating system—makes
all decisions based on the contents of your V.I.P. list. In this session,
participants will discover how this and other structures of the brain operate
and will learn simple evidence-based interventions to improve mood and memory
and to achieve goal-directed behaviors.
OBJECTIVES
Following
this session, participants will be able to:
- explain the role various brain structures have in emotional expression, attention allocation, and mood regulation.
- describe the benefits of various interventions such as meditation, visualization, and positive affirmations.
- apply simple evidence-based interventions to improve mood, emotions, and memory and to achieve goal-directed behaviors.
NOTE: "Registration" for individual sessions is not required. Once onsite, you may attend any sessions on the day(s) for which you are registered.
